I’m Dr. Alexis Anderson, DPT, a sex-positive, trauma-informed healthcare provider and LGBTQIA+ advocate specializing in pelvic health and orthopedic physical therapy. I’m deeply committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care by creating a safe, supportive environment where we can address sensitive and personal issues together.
I take the time to listen, validate your experiences, and collaborate with you on a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. With expertise in both pelvic and orthopedic physical therapy, I can focus on specific areas of the body, while also treating you as a whole. Your feedback is essential in guiding your treatment, and together, we’ll work to help you reach your goals.
With over 14 years of experience, I’ve mentored physical therapists, collaborated with specialists across multiple fields, and contributed to research studies with Kaiser Permanente and UCSF. I hold a certificate in sexual counseling to better support your sexual health within your pelvic health diagnosis.
Every body has the potential to heal and improve their health and wellness but most are unaware recovery is possible. After hearing patients repeatedly ask, “Why didn’t anyone tell me this type of treatment existed?” I was motivated to develop Body Be Good, an online platform that expands access to physical therapy education and care worldwide. Example topics include pre/post rehabilitation for prostatectomy, and gender affirmation surgeries, and birth preparation and recovery programs.
Prior to starting my assessment, we will spend time connecting so I can fully understand your background and why you are seeking care, including your comfort level with a physical exam. When conducting physical exams, I practice “continuous consent,” which means narrating the process aloud and confirming permission at each step so there are no surprises and you feel comfortable and well informed.
Following the physical exam, we will review our findings, discuss your goals, talk about where you currently are, where you’d like to be, and different pathways to getting there. We’ll collaborate on developing your personalized treatment plan. Your feedback is essential to our work together: if something isn’t working, we will change it. At each session, we’ll review how you are responding to care, make necessary adjustments, and check in on your goals.
My therapeutic environment is one where you feel truly seen, heard, and supported. Sprinkled with a little fun and laughter along the way.
I started a concierge-inspired practice to align my work with my values. In a traditional healthcare setting, I felt constrained by administrative red tape and limitations on the time and frequency I was able to see my patients, restricting my ability to provide baseline care. Now, I have the luxury of listening and connecting with you. I get to fully practice my hands-on approach and provide high-quality care at the frequency each patient needs. Building my own practice allows me to fully implement these values and give my patients the care they deserve.
I am committed to creating a safe, supportive, inclusive space to support your healing. I practice transparency and evidence-based care. My goal is to help you feel empowered and informed every step of the way.
Alongside you, I’m on a journey of continuous growth and learning. In my commitment to provide exceptional, personalized care, my promise to you and each patient is to offer the resources you need, including involving other healthcare providers and implementing an interdisciplinary, holistic approach to your care.
Together, we’ll work to find the best path forward for your recovery. Let’s make your healing journey a collaborative and integrated one. I’m ready when you are.
